Primary school children at Emirates International School – Jumeirah are delighted with their new state-of-the-art facilities at their new campus. Al Habtoor Group Chairman and Founder of the school officially opened the extension in February. Joanna Andrews reports.
Emirates International School – Jumeirah has a brand new primary school campus on Al Thanya Street boasting exceptional facilities including multiple outside play areas, a tennis court, and specialized rooms for art and science. The building was officially inaugurated by Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Founding Chairman. Guests were treated to a special performance of the UAE national anthem sung by primary school children on Tuesday 21 February 2017. It coincided with the 25th anniversary of the school which was first established in 1991.
Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor said, “Emirates International School – Jumeirah was one of the first schools to open in Dubai providing international standard education. Each year the school has produced excellent results, sending students to some of the best universities in the world. I am proud to officially open the state-of-theart primary school. The facilities are exceptional.”
Also present was Amna Al Habtoor, Director of Schools; David Hicks, Principal, EIS-J; along with senior management from the school and Al Habtoor Group, and a representative from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). Members of the media, who attended the ceremony, got the opportunity to tour the outstanding premises, which includes more than 50 classrooms over three floors; a fully equipped library, science labs, art room, dance and drama studio, IT lab, and multi-purpose spaces as well as multiple sensory areas and outside space for sports and play. Class sizes from EY1 to Year 3 are maintained at optimal levels for age-appropriate learning.
Al Habtoor added, “The facilities are unrivalled. The children at EIS are benefiting from first-class facilities at the start of their educational life. They have a long way to go before they graduate and we want to ensure that the school children have a positive learning experience at Emirates International School.
David Hicks said, “We are the oldest, most established international IB school in Dubai. We have been an IB world school since 1992. We are one of only a handful of schools worldwide to be authorized to offer all four IB programmes – the IBPYP, IBMYP, IBDP and IBCP. We are proud to perform consistently above the world average.”
Emirates International School provides English curriculum education for children from Kindergarten through to Grade 13. It is a member of the Middle East International Baccalaureate Association (MEIBA) and the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) organization.
