Al Habtoor Group Chairman Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor was honoured with the Golden Peacock Lifetime Achievement Award for Business and Social Inclusiveness at the Dubai Global Convention ceremony at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai on Wednesday 19 Apri 2017. Joanna Andrews reports.
The coveted award recognized Al Habtoor’s exemplary leadership which has contributed significantly to the stellar growth trajectory of the United Arab Emirates. Al Habtoor was credited for being “an outstanding pioneer in the world and beyond”.
The award was presented to Khalaf Al Habtoor by His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture & Knowledge Development. Also present on stage was His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, CEO and Chairman, Emirates Group; Dr Tayeb A. Kamali, Chairman – UAE Chapter, and Lt. Gen J. S. Ahluwalia, PVSM, Managing Director, Institute of Directors.
The ceremony coincided with Institute of Directors (IOD), India’s 27th World Congress on Business Excellence & Innovation, held in Dubai on 18-20 April at the same venue. The Golden Peacock Awards, instituted by the IOD, India in 1991, are now regarded as a benchmark of Corporate Excellence worldwide.
Khalaf Al Habtoor said, “It was an honour to be recognized by such a prestigious body. The growth of the Al Habtoor Group is very much aligned with the growth of the United Arab Emirates. It is imperative that the public and private sector work alongside each other for the benefit of the country.”
