The Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation (KAHF) recently launched Hope, a breast cancer awareness initiative, in October raising AED 1.7 m at its inaugural event. Joanna Andrews attended the VIP fundraiser at the Bentley Boutique & Café.
Pink dominated the evening transforming the luxury Bentley car showroom, boutique and café into a temporary auction house for Hope’s official launch.
The campaign, aimed at helping breast cancer sufferers and their families in the UAE as well as raising awareness and funding for cancer research, was launched by Noora Mohammed Al Habtoor, the grand-daughter of UAE philanthropist Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor and Mariam Abdullah Al Mazrooei, wife of Ahmed Al Habtoor, CEO, Al Habtoor Motors.
Noora Al Habtoor said, “We hope, that through this initiative we will be able to help better educate people about breast cancer and encourage women to screen themselves regularly.”
Attendees got a chance to bid for several items that went under the hammer including two oil paintings by Italian painter Anil Lillo Dell’Utri; one showing Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nathan and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and a separate portrait featuring His Highness Sheikh Mohammed. Other items included a limited edition Hublot watch, a Bentley Continental Saddle handbag, a Everlast boxing glove signed by boxing legend Muhammed Ali, a signed Bubba Watson Ping putter, and an autographed polo ball by Pablo Mac Donough.
In November Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman, Al Habtoor Group and Founder of the KAHF, handed over a cheque amounting to AED 1,710,740 to His Excellency Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director General, Dubai Health Authority who led a delegation to the Al Habtoor Group head office.
