Al Habtoor discusses anti-Muslim sentiment in the West

by The Media Office

Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor met with Michael Wolfe, award-winning producer and co-founder of United Production Foundation (UPF), a non-profit organization founded in 1999 to produce documentary films aimed at increasing understanding among people of different faith and cultures, especially among Muslims and other faiths.

The meeting, which took place at the Al Habtoor Group head office on Thursday December 17, 2015 was also attended by Sunderesh Iyer, Chief Operating Officer, Al Habtoor Investment.

They discussed the implications of Donald Trump’s recent inflammatory comments on wanting to bar all Muslims from America.

Al Habtoor said, Trump’s views are distorting the American perception of Muslims and Islam as a faith. “It is very worrying,” Al Habtoor said. “This is creating a cross cultural divide and encouraging segregation. We need to educate people that this is not what Islam is about. Non- Muslims need to know that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance.”

Wolfe informed Al Habtoor about UPF’s latest projects, which include producing educational campaigns which address the rise of Islamophobia
