by The Media Office

The future of Gulf cities high on the agenda

The World Future Council held its annual meeting for the first time in Dubai under the auspices of Al Habtoor Group. The meeting took place on September 20, at the Habtoor Grand Resort & Spa where Khalaf Al Habtoor, Chairman of Al Habtoor Group and a number of high-profile environmentalists received WFC members.

High on the agenda were issues like climate change, energy, sustainable eco-systems and sustainable economies and the future of the Gulf cities and ways to establish renewable energy and eco-friendly cities.

Dr Jacob von Uexküll, Founder of the World Future Council says there are several reason why Dubai was chosen to host the meeting, "There is no place better than Dubai to talk about the Gulf cities. Its growth from a small trading port on the edge of the desert to a global city in a short period is a proof of the strength of the visionary leadership."
