This year EIS-Meadows saw many notable performers among its students.

“Eighty-three per cent of our Grade 11 students achieved five or more A* to C grade passes, this represents an increase upon 2011 to our highest ever level and our aim is to push this figure higher in 2013,” says David Hicks, Principal of EIS-Meadows High School.

Among the high-flying students were Rahma Omar Abubakar Zubedi and Varun Kumar who both secured six A* and three A grade passes. In addition ten mathematics students in Grade 10 who sat their IGCSE one year early exceeded expectation with eight A* grades and two A grades.

The International GCSE (IGCSE) is modeled on the O-levels and widely seen as a sterner test than the GCSE.

The International Baccalaureate program also fared exceedingly well at EIS-Meadows. The average student point score was 33 points - the highest ever. This figure compares favourably for students when seeking university entrance as it is equivalent to three A* Grade and one B Grade at A-Level according to UCAS point tariffs for UK universities.

“This year the school’s average is expected to be three to four points above the global average and is likely to compare very favourably with other IB schools in the region and globally,” says Hicks.

“Our top IB Diploma student, deserving a special mention, is Rolf Stirnimann having achieved 43 points out of a possible 45, a total which places him in the top 0.3 per cent worldwide. Further mention must go to Mastoureh Jafarzadeh and Divit Sood, who achieved 42 points and 40 points respectively.”

Internationally, only between 0.5-1.0 per cent of students achieve the landmark score of 40+ each year whereas at EIS-Meadows this year the figure was around 10 per cent of the cohort.

Hicks describes the results as “a wonderful endorsement of the quality of students we attract and the commitment and expertise of their teachers. Both students and staff are to be congratulated”.
