British Consul General to Dubai calls in on Khalaf Al Habtoor, emirati

by The Media Office

Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor welcomed Edward Hobart, Her Majesty’s Consul General to Dubai at his office on Al Wasl Road on Sunday, February 1, 2015. They discussed geopolitics and Al Habtoor’s recent articles, including ‘Global leadership lacking in 2014’, and ‘The UK, An Extremist’s Utopia.’

The Consul General said he shared some of the same concerns as the Al Habtoor Group Chairman, and praised him for his tireless efforts to bridge the East and West through dialogue.

Al Habtoor said that one of the main missions of his Foundation, the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation (KAHF), is to foster relations between the East and West and dispel the western myths about Islam. The KAHF was launched in early 2013 to put all Al Habtoor charities under one umbrella. The Foundations focuses on Peace and Prosperity, and assisting people around the world.

Al Habtoor, who has a home in the UK, told the Consul General that he respects the laws in one of the world’s oldest democracies, but he is concerned about people abusing freedom, and turning on the country.

“As an Emirati and a proud Arab, who considers the UK as my second home, I cannot possibly condone the current political climate in Britain that undermines its Arab friends while nurturing a terrorist-breeding swamp that is a danger to this region – and, if and when the tide turns the other way in Number Ten, will boomerang against the British people themselves,” he said in one of his articles.
