It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Guy Snelling, General Manager of our Metropolitan Palace Hotel, Dubai, after a long struggle against cancer.
Guy was appointed General Manager of the Metropolitan Palace Hotel in November 1997, which crowned a distinguished career in hotel management stretching back over thirty-two years to his first appointment as Assistant Manager with Mount Kenya Safari Club.
The consummate professional, and a very little-fazed guy, he was one of life’s ‘natural gentleman’ and this showed when all about him were losing their heads in some crisis or another. He would be sorting out the problem and always with a wry sense of humor.
It was his leadership skills and nurturing of his staff that played an important part in the growing success of the Palace, our flagship hotel. Guy will be greatly missed by his collogues and many friends in Dubai and all those who knew him throughout his career.
His personal and professional qualities earned him wide respect and admiration and he mad a unique contribution to the development of Al Habtoor Group’s, hotel division. We extend out deepest sympathies to his family on this sad occasion.
