Al Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) project staff and client representatives have celebratde a key milestone on the 'Buildings by Daman' project site at Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The topping-out of the main residential tower of the project at the end of 2010 was a great achievement

The structures of the offices, podiums and basements are now also complete and the team is well into the finishing stages of the building. The hotel tower and the link bridge are also progressing well and the residential tower mock-ups are being finalised.

HLG Project Director Stuart Hillier said the Al Habtoor Group had taken over the project when it was 35 per cent complete. “The team is working hard to deliver this project on time and to a high standard of quality.  We are pleased with the good progress we have made in such a short time,” he said. “We look forward to the continuation of our close working relationship with our client to meet more key project milestones throughout the year 2011.”

Awarded to HLG in 2010 by Daman Real Estate Capital Partners, the project involves the completion of Daman’s ‘Buildings by Daman’ project at DIFC. It comprises an L-shaped block composed of two buildings of different heights intersecting and overlapping each other.

The first tower is a 20-storey structure that mostly houses office space with hotel amenities on the top three levels.

The second tower, partially overlapping the office tower, is a 60-storey tower, which is composed of two structures that are interconnected with a structural steel link bridge that has impressive sky gardens on both sides. These structures comprise serviced and residential apartments, and an 18-storey hotel.

The two buildings sit over a nine-level podium area with automated and traditional car parks, retail space, and community areas including swimming pools, cafes and green recreational areas.

The scope of work includes residual works to complete all the building structures, external works, site facilities and landscaping. It also includes the fit-out works for the residential apartments and common areas, complete facade works and primary services to all the buildings. Work on the site and is on track for completion this year.
