The Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation has sponsored the first-ever ‘Encyclopedia of Mosques in the UAE’ in collaboration with Al-Bayan Newspaper. The 264 page Encyclopedia features some of the most prominent mosques in the United Arab Emirates.

The table-top Encyclopedia highlights the architectural evolution of the mosques in the country, from the historical mosques of the early Islamic era to those built most recently. The Encyclopedia was presented to the media at a press conference at the Al Habtoor Group head office on Al Wasl Road in the presence of Sultan Al Habtoor, President, Al Habtoor Motors and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, KAHF; Dr. Rafia Obaid Ghubash, Founder, Women’s Museum and Member of the Board of Trustees, KAHF; and Dhaen Shaheen, Executive Director of Publishing, Dubai Media Inc.

Khalaf Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group, who donated the Al Farooq Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque and Centre to the UAE in an effort to bridge the divide between the East and the West, said “We are very happy to be part of this Encyclopedia. It is the first time anyone has documented our country’s mosques; they are something we are very proud of and pleased to share with readers of any religion and nationality.”

The Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation, based at the Al Farooq Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque and Centre, was officially launched in January 2013. The aim of the Foundation is to focus mainly on developing and improving human societies in need in the UAE and beyond.
