Zayed University benefitted from the generousity of Khalaf Al Habtoor after it received a Dh10 million donation from him in May. The grant, which was used to found the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Chair in Business Sciences, will promote risk management studies and business science.
An agreement, guaranteeing the donation, was signed by Mr Khalaf and HE Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research and the President of Zayed University, on May 17 at a ceremony to mark the occasion.
During the event, Shaikh Nahyan gave a speech praising Mr Habtoor’s financial contribution. He drew attention to the need for collaboration in general between the private and the public sectors in promoting education. "[Such] endowments to enhance education; demonstrate the importance of collaboration between the private and the public sectors to address the challenges of the future and to advance our society," he said.
Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor thanked His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan for his comments and emphasised the importance of education in society. He said the establishment of the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Chair in Management Science will focus on risk management for large companies in the UAE.
