The Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has achieved timely completion of the first of thirty basement raft concrete pours at the Habtoor Palace Hotels Complex – Dubai’s largest hotel development – signifying completion of the site’s enabling works. The project was recently renamed Habtoor Island.

“The Hotels Complex is a landmark building and this major pour marks an important and exciting milestone for our client and for our project team, who have been on site since May 2012,” said Noel Madigan, HLG Client Liaison Director of the Habtoor Palace hotels complex.

“One of the biggest project challenges is the logistics of building over such a large plot. The site spans 370 meters along Sheikh Zayed Road and is 120 meters wide.“The first concrete slab required approximately 10 hours to pour and is the equivalent of 125 loads from a concrete mixer,” Madigan added. The car park basement will sit under an extensive landscaped garden, which will be located in front of the future St Regis Hotel.

The complex is valued at total of AED 4.85 billion ($1.33 billion).
