Khalaf Al Habtoor, the Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group, held a meeting with the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Dubai – Mansyur Pangeran at the Al Habtoor head office on Al Wasl Road on February 16, 2012.

Pangeran, who was appointed to Dubai in 2009, had expressed an interest in meeting Al Habtoor given his company’s success and his standing in UAE society.

The two men talked at length about the economic relationship between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Indonesia. Pangeran pointed out that trade between the two nations totalled $2 billion (Dhs7.34 billion) last year.

Al Habtoor advised the Consul General to create ways of showcasing Indonesian products to the Emirati market.

Meanwhile Pangeran invited Al Habtoor to visit his country and to invest in Indonesia. “Indonesia is a fascinating country. We have the largest Muslim population with 204,847,000 [people] which constitutes 88 per cent of the total Indonesian population. Our GDP is $900 billion (Dhs3,306 billion) and we are very rich in terms of natural resources.” He added that Indonesia is the world’s 17th largest economy.

The Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia was accompanied on this visit by Heru Sudradjat, the Consul General for Economic Affairs, and Fajar Nuradi, the Consul at the Consulate General in Dubai.
