A Journey to Kazan

by Joanna Andrews

Al Habtoor Group Founding Chairman Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor braved sub-zero temperatures to visit Kazan in Tatarstan recently where he met the President and eyed up potential investments. Joanna Andrews reports.

Al Habtoor took a delegation to the southwest Russian city of Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan in early February where he met President Rustam Minnikhanov and looked at potential investment opportunities in the semiautonomous region.

It marked Al Habtoor’s second visit to Tatarstan following a visit in 2010, and President Minnikhanov had previously visited the Al Habtoor Group Chairman in Dubai in May 2016, where he was taken on a tour of Al Habtoor City.

Tatarstan is considered the gateway to the Russian market. It is located about 500 miles east of Moscow.

Al Habtoor said, “I am always on the lookout for investment opportunities around the world, and Eastern Europe offers good valuations. If the right opportunity presents itself then I will consider it.”
