Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor met with media executives from Bahrain’s renowned Akhbar Al Khaleej newspaper - including Anwar Abdulrahman, Editor in Chief; Abdul Majeed Ali Haji, Director Corporate Communications, and Geoffrey Milne, General Manager of Al Hilal Group.
Anwar is a well-known and respected man in his field. He is fluent in Arabic, Persian and English, and is a renowned public speaker of history, biography and politics.
The meeting, which took place on Tuesday February 11, 2014, marked the first time they had met. It was arranged after Al Habtoor recently started sending the well-respected newspaper his outspoken articles on regional political, social and economic issues - including his strong views on the current political situation in Bahrain.
Al Habtoor said, “I can’t just sit quietly and watch devastating events happen right on our doorstep. We need regional leaders to lead cohesive action to enable stability in our region. Our economies are strong and we have bright futures, but we mustn't sit idle when anything threatens our stability.”

Abdulrahman said, he admired the suggestions and the vision put forward by Al Habtoor and his outspoken views. He said the articles were well written, and surprised they were penned by a businessman and not a writer.
Al Habtoor responded saying, “Everything I write - or say - comes from the heart and out of my concern and love for Arab nations.” The Al Habtoor Group Chairman also gave the group a copy each of his best-selling autobiography, ‘Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, the Autobiography’.180
